Accepting an internship shouldn’t be the hardest part.

The EmpOUR Summer Scholarship supports university students who have accepted summer internships but face financial barriers that make participation difficult, including relocation costs, travel, housing gaps, food insecurity, or the cost of professional clothing.

This scholarship exists to bridge the gap between opportunity offered and opportunity accessed.

Why This Matters

Every year, talented students turn down or struggle through internships, not because they aren’t qualified, but because they can’t afford the hidden costs that come with opportunity.

EmpOUR was built on the belief that access should not determine outcomes.

This scholarship is one way we put that belief into action.

Who This Scholarship Is For

This scholarship is designed for university students who:

  • Have already accepted a summer internship

  • Are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program

  • Are navigating financial constraints related to participating in that internship

  • Demonstrate initiative, responsibility, and a clear sense of purpose

You do not need:

  • A perfect GPA

  • A prestigious company name

  • A traditional background

We’re investing in follow-through, not polish.

  • At this time, donations to EmpOUR are not tax-deductible, as EmpOUR operates as an LLC.

    We are actively exploring partnerships with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. If and when a fiscal sponsorship is established, donations made through that sponsor would be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

    All donors will be clearly notified if and when tax-deductible giving becomes available.

  • Donations directly support university students who have accepted summer internships but face financial barriers to participation.

    Funds are used to offset real, often overlooked expenses such as:

    • Relocation and transportation

    • Temporary housing

    • Food and basic living costs

    • Professional or corporate clothing

    • Internship-related necessities

    Every contribution helps turn an earned opportunity into an accessible one.

  • Scholarship recipients are selected through a holistic review process.

    We consider:

    • Confirmation of an accepted summer internship

    • Demonstrated financial need related to participating in that internship

    • Thoughtfulness and clarity in the application responses

    • Initiative, responsibility, and follow-through

    There is no single profile we’re looking for. We prioritize students who have done the work to earn the opportunity and would benefit most from support that helps them fully participate.

  • Yes, select in-kind contributions may be accepted based on current student needs.

    This can include professional clothing, technology, travel credits, or services that directly support internship participation. Please contact us before donating in-kind items so we can ensure alignment and impact.

  • Yes. Donations can be made in honor or in memory of someone meaningful to you. These contributions help extend their legacy by supporting students at a critical moment in their journey.
